The Future of Gaming
Anyone who keeps (a bit) up with the world of computer gaming knows about the release about the new XBox360 game Halo3. Yet another game which appears on my list to buy if, and when, I get a XBox360 Elite.
Other titles on the list are BioShock, and Gears of War. But after seeing this video, I wonder..... should I buy the game and help in creating the apocalypse halocast....
At least we end up with the greatest game of all time :)
Nokia E61 features in Die Hard 4.0
Well it sort of features in the new Bruce Willis action movie. The phone is visible for a couple of seconds [50 minutes into the movie].
This first picture shows the phone numbers on the businesscard. I guess he's gonna make a call to the other characters cellphone ((202)-555 1313), but why enter '12'? A slip-up or is this just a typo since he's under a lot of stress :-)
B.t.w. mister Willis doesn't have much to do (see calendar), and he obviously has some bluetooth device, otherwise one wouldn't put the Bluetooth menu in the standby menu on the phone.... Other observations show that there is no cell reception and that his battery is almost empty. This does match up with the events (to come) in the movie. So they did mind the (very) small details.
Free Hotspot Access
You're in luck, if you have a XS4ALL Internet account. Normally, you have an hour a week free Hotspot access, and this summer you are even more lucky. XS4ALL provides over 900 free Hotspots throughout the land this summer (June, Juli, and August).
April Fools Day
Here you find some of the pranks going around this year.
What We Call The News
And yet another great video from JibJab :-)
Explicit Mac Podcast
The Macbreak Weekly podcast is a great podcast to listen to. Up till now they have been listed as a 'clean' podcast. This means that there's no foul / explicit language... Up till now :-)
I guess that the ratholes are catching up.
UPDATE: Well, it seems that the explicit rating is gone this week.
iPod-killer hacked
The latest iPod killer from Microsoft (the Zune), has been 'hacked'. A pretty simple registry hack (on your PC) is all it takes to access the device as a mass storage device and copy stuff form it.
Also, just rename any file extension to .jpg (image file extension) and 'share' them among other Zune users.
A firmware upgrade will probably disable these features in the future.
Another (unconfirmed) hack is to enable special features on the Zune, so that it can be used as a paper-weight :). I wonder if this really works, because I could use a good paper-weight.
chacha.com
There's a new (beta) search engine on the Internet. It's called chacha.com. The new thing about chacha.com is that it offers an alternative search method. Normally you enter the thing you search for and press submit (or whatever). This engine has the impossibility to search with a guide.
What happens is that you get contacted by an actual person (a chat interface like thingy) and he/she does the search for you, and returns the thing you actually needed. No more thousands of pages to dig through. Note that there are some rules you need to follow.
As mentioned by Leo Laporte in the Net@Night podcast, it's a girly-search-engine.... Guys don't (or won't) ask for 'directions'.
Zune and Windows Vista incompatible
First the Music bought online (DRM protected) won't play on the Zune, and now it seems that the Zune doesn't work with the new OS Windows Vista (at this moment).
Well, that's just great. :D
